The Federalist previews the new New Republic website.  Tee hee.

Well, yes, but snarking about somebody else’s Web2.0 triviality tends to misfire when the articles linked in your own sidebar include Why Jon Stewart Is Bad For America, We Shop Because We Yearn, and The New Mirror Men: From Metrosexual To Spornosexual.  Oh well...

Indy Star prints Thanksgiving cartoon, grovels before PC police

The Memory Hole  Dept

I no longer read the Indianapolis Star regularly, and things like this are why:
Varvel Taken To Woodshed Over ‘‘Extra Guests This Thanksgiving’’ Cartoon On Obama’s Executive Action On Immigration

...After the newspaper began fielding complaints over the cartoon, the Star airbrushed out the bushy mustache on what appears to be a Hispanic man climbing through the window.  Later, executive editor Jeff Taylor removed the image altogether from the newspaper’s website...
Pussies.  If you think you made a mistake, stand up and face it. Don’t even think about trying to make it disappear.

And besides, there’s nothing wrong with the cartoon, unless you argue that unfavorable depictions of anybody of an ethnic persuasion are automatically wrong.  (Appears the SJWs do, but that’s their problem.)

(Of course this is the same Indianapolis Star that couldn’t figure out Indiana’s voter ID law[1] back a month ago.)

A number of other journalists have taken to Twitter today to [attempt to] shift the focus of the story off of Milbank and onto Heritage, the panelists, and everyone in the audience except Milbank and Saba Ahmed.  Milbank could have written a legitimate criticism of the decision by Heritage to host the debate, or of the panelists invited to the discussion...  However, that’s not what Milbank did, and it’s not the story today.  Milbank made specific accusations about the conduct of the panelists and the audience at one particular point in the panel presentation, using sliced-up quotes and loaded language to paint a very different picture, and presented it as a news report.  Today he doubles down on his ‘‘journalism’’ defense, even though yesterday he argued that it was all ‘‘subjective’’...

Bill Quick:
The ‘‘memorial ceremonies’’ in Boston have been leading all the radio newscasts, the reports being strong on weepy choir music and uplifting speechifying from the mutilated.

Oddly missing in the reports were the words ‘‘Muslim,’’ ‘‘terrorism,’’ and ‘‘Islamic jihad.’’

Apparently the two bombs made their own way to the marathon finish line, detonated themselves, and did all this for no discernible reason.
We knew that.

This explains all those ‘‘low information’’ voters...

Media Research Center:
In less than 24 hours, the big three networks have devoted 17 times more coverage to a traffic scandal involving Chris Christie than they’ve allowed in the last six months to Barack Obama’s Internal Revenue Service controversy.  Since the story broke on Wednesday that aides to the New Jersey governor punished a local mayor’s lack of endorsement with a massive traffic jam, ABC, CBS and NBC have responded with 34 minutes and 28 seconds of coverage.  Since July 1, these same networks managed a scant two minutes and eight seconds for the IRS targeting of Tea Party groups...
And this is a surprise because...?

When editors ruled the earth...

Roberta turns a double subject into a charming epic:

(As commenter ScottH says... try reading it ‘‘in Ringo Starr's voice.’’)

Afterward, Roberta grumbles that In The Glorious 50-Baud Days, constructions such as ‘‘the tank it,’’ should they ever have made it as far as The Wire, would be followed by an immediate RESENDING.  Well, In Those Days, there were people called ‘‘editors’’ who usually caught such things before they escaped from the newsdesk.  Not to mention the final check by the guy/gal who punched the tape for transmission.

Nowadays just about anybody can hit ‘‘send,’’ although proofing your own copy remains just as damn difficult as it’s always been.  And once in the wild, I’m not sure anyone actually reads anything; transmission nowadays seems to be mostly cut-and-paste.
