Got room for a Tennessee pup, cat, or horse?
Shelter Closing! Many Free dogs available to good GOOD homes. 10 are scheduled to be PTS [put to sleep - ed] Monday. Various breeds, some are fully vetted, spayed or neutered. Save a life, adopt one! You can see a list on petfinders. The 30 remining dogs are the biggest concern, but they also have 2 horses, and 5 cats (as of today). The cats include 3 kittens (apparantly from the same litter), one baby, and one adult. The shelter is in Selmer, Tennessee, about 60 miles east of Memphis and just up the road from Corinth, Mississippi.

Call 731-439-3471 to place a hold on the dog you're interested in. Must be family pet adoptions, all are good with kids. References will be needed. The shelter is closing due to lack of funding. All dogs must go. Please help them, they have always been a no-kill shelter, they are now forced to euthanize. Please consider saving one of these wonderful pets.

Death isn’t on line. If he was, there would be a sudden drop in the death rate. Although it'd be interesting to see if he’d post things like: DON’T YOU THINK I SOUND LIKE JAMES EARL JONES?Erm, sorry, got distracted. Was supposed to be this one:

Terry Pratchett knighted for services to literature
Arise, Sir Discworld
By Lester Haines • 31st December 2008 13:09 GMT
Terry Pratchett has admitted he's “flabbergasted†to be awarded a knighthood for services to literature in the New Year Honours list.
The 60-year-old Discworld scribe told the BBC: “There are times when phrases such as ‘totally astonished’ just don't do the job. I am of course delighted and honoured and, needless to say, flabbergasted.â€

... who wrote this:
“The mistake we can never repeat is stifling criticism of cultures and religions for reasons of tolerance.â€and this (paraphrased):
Government and politicians ha[ve] too long failed to acknowledge the feelings of “loss and estrangement†felt by [...citizens or our...] society facing parallel communities that disregard its language, laws and customs.or?
Newcomers... must avoid “self-designated victimization.â€How about?
[to immigrants:] “Let go of where you come from; choose [...your new country...] unconditionally.â€
How about the Netherlands’ largest left-wing political group, the Labor Party?
Could it possibly be that, when the chips are down, political-correctnesss and progressive multi-culturalism might not trump cultural survival? Stay tuned!

From James R. Rummel, a sign of how far we’ve “progressed†in the last 80-some years. “Average citizens†once could freely purchase and own this stuff, and nobody found that particularly shocking.

Reportage from all over[1]:
Post-Game Report from Shermlock
The (don’t even consider calling him “Nannyâ€[2]) Og Report [and] [events leading up to...]
(Did I miss anyone?)
Some of the other attendees: Joanna, Brigid, Carteach, Turk, Jim, Red, Mrs. Red, Heath from Elyria, Shermlock Jr...
Judging from the number of people who have expressed regrets over missing this one, the next meetup should be a doozy!
