"He showed every bum on the street how to raise money to start a business..."

Interesting contrarian take on Michael Milkin by one of the web's true iconoclasts.  (And also, why the "evil hedge funds" aren't taking over Hollywood.)

Ya got possibilities, kid

Even if you are short, and look like you're twelve ;-)

In Passing

One-up

In the discussion thread of this post. First:

[quoting from the original link] “The best thing about being a Conservative is that I don’t have to lie.” ... Those 14 words rock with truth. - blackeagle603
then:
Everyone knows that 16 words are required to be truly memorable, so I hereby suggest the following:
“The best thing about being a Conservative is that I don’t have to lie to myself.” - daveg

Sometimes you outsmart yourself

Being on a dialup most of the time, I'm frequently irritated by people who habitually put too many images on their main page.  So the rest is after the jump, where I eat a little crow...

Dear Diary...

Useless.

After spending too many late hours this week chasing loose ends while getting started at learning Delphi (Anybody know why trying to set the statusbar subpanel's text property throws a compiler error? Um, nevermind...), now I get to go home and clean the mouse droppings out of my kitchen drawers. And wash all the silverware, along with the rest of the contents.

And speak firmly to my lazy ("Mouse? We don't know no mouse!") cat.

Lost in transmission?

Look closely at the photo in the Attractive property post:
Screenshot, 150%That's a screenshot from from my browser (display set to 1024x768) enlarged to 150%. Note the ripple in the edge of the carpet. Now look at the original:
Original at 150%I don't think that the browser is getting asked to resize the image.

Curious, innit?

The Press

What party did you say that was?

Meanwhile, the Charleston Daily Mail's Don Surber notes a disparity in the the way the Associated Press treated the political affiliations of a pair of corruption suspects.

I can't believe the folks at the AP are so dumb that they believe people don't notice this kind of stuff.  It must be that they don't care.
