Demonstrating how it’s done

Artistic Excoriation[1]  Dept
Ed Morrow engages in a bit of “hate speech”:
I hereby promote hatred for an “identifiable group.”  That group is the politically correct, mealy-mouthed, oppressive, petty, puffed-up, would-be-Hitlers that wish to destroy freedom of speech.  They blight your otherwise dandy country and are, unfortunately, rising to power in every corner of the once Free World.  I hate this “identifiable group,” which includes you, Provost Houle.  I urge any and all to hate you and your kind, to loathe you, to taste bile at the thought of you, to shudder at your approach and rejoice at your departing, to see your shadow and draw back as from a viper...
And that’s just getting started.  I am in awe!  RTWT.

JUST SAW OBAMA’S SPEECH TO THE TROOPS AT BAGRAM:  One of his better performances, really.
Yeah, didn’t sound anything like him.

Kathryn Jean Lopez:

Y’know, if everything you hear is “hate speech”...

...maybe it’s because everybody around you hates what you’ve done?

(Inspired by this.)

Of course, some kinds of “hate” are OK... (via IP)

Another click of the ratchet

Not a Dime’s Worth of Difference  Dept
Huffington Post:
In the wake of the passage of health care reform, nearly the entire slate of Republican senatorial candidates seems ready to run on a repeal of the bill.  But now, the lawmaker overseeing their election strategy is softening the message. Rather than promising to scrap the bill in its entirety, the GOP will pledge to just get rid of the more controversial parts.

In a brief chat with the Huffington Post on Tuesday, National Republican Senatorial Committee chair John Cornyn (R-Tex.) implicitly acknowledged that Republicans are content with allowing some elements of Obama’s reform into law.  And they’d generally ignore those elements when taking the fight to their Democrat opponents as November approaches.

“There is non-controversial stuff here like the preexisting conditions exclusion and those sorts of things,” the Texas Republican said. “Now we are not interested in repealing that.  And that is frankly a distraction.”
Restoring liberty is “frankly a distraction,” huh?  C’mon you apologists, tell me again why I should vote Republican?

And the dumbasses just can’t resist blabbing to the commies over at HuffnHos, either.

LATER:  Oh yes, we’ve heard from Cornyn before!

LATER YET:  Cornyn says he was “misquoted.”  Rrrr-i-i-i-g-g-g-h-h-ht!

Frum-pery

Sleepers awakening  Dept
The Wall Street Journal’s editorial page takes a passing swipe at David Frum:
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs was especially taken yesterday with blogger and Bush speechwriter David Frum’s argument that if only Republicans had negotiated with Democrats, they could have somehow made the bill less awful than it is.

Mr. Frum now makes his living as the media’s go-to basher [link added, language warning esp. comments] of fellow Republicans, which is a stock Beltway role...
Glad to see they’ve finally figured Frum out.  Now if they would only tackle the equally discredited Peggy.Noonan...
