Gov. Chris Christie is taking $65 million, the entire allocation, from the state’s global warming fund, and $5.9 million, from the toxic waste site cleanup program, to help close the over $10 billion deficit in his $29.3 billion 2010-11 state budget, the state environmental protection commissioner said Monday.Zero-funding a politically-correct “solution†to an imaginary problem, so you can spend the money on real ones. Works for me.

Tweet quoted by Sissy Willis (via Glenn Reynolds).
Related (via Veeshir):
For many a year now, officeholders of both major parties have worked hard to earn the distrust of ordinary Americans. It appears that they finally have succeeded...
The Democrats fear them because they see through the left’s empty promise of utopia in exchange for freedom. The Republicans fear them because they're pushy and because they’'re loyal to their principles rather than to a party.
They make everyone uncomfortable. That’s healthy.
-----
LATER (100414 17:25): Meanwhile, Indiana Republicans appear poised to pick as their candidate to replace Evan Bayh a beltway insider who has spent more of the last 12 years lobbying in Washington than showing his face in Indiana, and who would likely turn out to be another Dick Lugar if elected. That’s not good enough.

Got a house built before 1978?
Contemplating some remodeling?
Guess what. Come April 22nd, you’re screwed:
...Pre-1978 homes being renovated will be turned into the equivalent of hazmat sites... Fines for contractors who violate the rules could run up to $37,500 per day. Tons of paperwork will be required of the contractor to document every step of the process.Or you could just go down to the Home Depot and hire a few illegals...

Michigan Rep. Bart Stupak, the congressman who led anti-abortion rights Democrats in the House during health care negotiations, will retire this year, CBS News has learned...Now correct me if I’m wrong, but as I recall Stupak’s sticking point was not about whether anybody has a “right†to an abortion, but whether abortions should be eligible for federal funding.
Which is a long way from being “anti-abortion-rightsâ€â€” unless among those “rights†you’re including the “right to make somebody else pay for it.†Which appears to be the way the folks at 51 W. 52nd St. want things.
(Just another example of the spin that seems to be an ever-present part of the coverage purveyed by our friends in the DSM.)
