Of all the subjects you take in high school, the only ones where you are likely to be working with the same teacher all four years are band and orchestra.  Because you put your heart into playing a musical instrument maybe a little more than you might into calculating the area of a polygon, your band teacher can make you or break you more than any other.  During my high school years of 1967 to 1971, I was one of the lucky ones.  I played the bassoon and had Raymond J.
