(In the (ancient) days of hand-set type, newspapers would disassemble each day’s pages after printing. But often the type which had been set for recurring items– the masthead, section headers, and the like– would be “left standing” for future use. Reporters frequently joke that some headlines– “Congressman Caught In Love Nest,” “Mayor Indicted,” “Storms Pound Area”– appear often enough that they should be left standing, as well. Here’s an addition to the list, at least until the next election.)
